Finding a space for my books in the new house was a little bit of a challenge, I had no idea which space to use in the new house and I was not willing to keep them in boxes in the basement forever.
I’m a big time reader (lately listening to books on Audible, here’s my list) and I have a pretty big book collection that I’m not willing to give up. In the previous home we had built in bookcases on both sides of the fireplace, so it was easy to keep them stored and at reach. When we moved to the new house it did no have a built in library and I need it to create one ASAP.
Instead of spending a lot of money on a custom bookcase, I used the beautiful and affordable IKEA Billy Bookcases. I measured the wall to figure out the exact sizing and amount, I needed 3 bookcases to fit against the wall perfectly. I went with the color white, a very neutral color, knowing I will add my decor touches later on. I assembled them pretty fast and placed them together.
I organized the books by genre and added a personalize touch by adding plants, candles, small lamps, a bench for sitting, etc.
Next was the wall gallery! I pretty much used the art I had in my previous home with some additional ones. You can also watch the videos on my IG account to see how I hung them on the wall, link at the bottom of this page.
What do you think? a project that took no time to achieve just to get my books out of the boxes in the meantime we are making this house feels like home. Feel free to pin my pictures to your Pinterest boards for later inspirations when you create your own library home.
