Crocheting These Days

Crocheting These Days

All I’ve been doing these days is crocheting and I love it!!

I love to be busy with my hands, creating something special and beautiful is my passion. Have you heard the phrase “handmade with love” well it is true. Every item I create is unique with an especial attention to detail.

This bandana or triangle scarf is made with acrylic yarn, it feels extremely comfortable, warm and soft against your skin. You can wear it tied around the neck or draped over your shoulders.

If you are looking for a bandana scarf let me know 🙂 I’ll be selling them on my shop, you can click the link on my page to purchase this one The LUCIA bandana scarf0bc8d815-9fb6-451a-b4d4-fec87d45d556

As you can see the scarf below is the color mustard and it has tassels. I sold it to one of my friends already, it was the first one and it sold right away. I’ve been busy making orders for friends in other colors too.

Thank you for reading all the way here, I promise I’ll continue writing more on my blog and sharing more handmade items with you! xoxo

Spring Break in Florida Pt. 2

Spring Break in Florida Pt. 2

There are more things to do in Pensacola besides the beach…

We would’ve stayed longer at the beach but the weather got a little cloudy and rainy. So we decided to visit the National Naval Aviation Museum, the most visited museum in Florida. It is also the home of the world famous Blue Angels.

There’s so much to see, including historic exhibitions and restored aircraft.  The kids had the opportunity to get inside some of the aircraft. The best part about it is that the admission is free!

So if you are thinking about visiting Pensacola, this museum is a must go!

Thanks for visiting my blog xoxo 🙂

Spring Break in Florida

Spring Break in Florida

Searching for warm and sunshine means driving 15 hours to get to the beach over spring break.

We drove to Pensacola Beach, Florida and this is what we found! beautiful clear-water ocean and white soft sand! Not crowded with people at all, but still close to the busy town with lots of restaurants and shopping places to enjoy.

It was so nice to be able to step out of the routine, spend quality time with family and get recharged! and who doesn’t like to get recharged by the ocean or would do anything to be at the beach right now, especially when you are in the middle of April and still feels like winter!!

We drive to Florida every year, we have been to many beaches in Florida before but when it comes to being clean and beautiful clear water and white sand, this one is our favorite so far.

Tell me what’s your favorite beach in the USA.

Thanks for stopping by……

Natural Wonder

Natural Wonder

Last year we had the most wonderful spring break so far. And today I’m remembering how unforgettable it was.

Our road trip to Arizona was spectacular.  We drove more than 24 hours to get there but it was worth it. We stopped one day in Colorado to admire Colorado Rocky Mountains, it was worth the stop, unbelievable scenery.  Then drove through Utah to admire the Arches, and again incredible views. We regretted not staying in Utah longer but next time we will visit Zion National Park.

At last we arrived at the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona, one of the seven wonders of the natural world, we were in awe of its size and splendor. Our original intention was to camp there but it was too cold during the night, so instead we stayed in one of the lodges, we were blessed to find a room available for us for two nights!

After our visit to the Grand Canyon we decided to visit Sedona, Arizona. We stayed there 2 days and what can I tell you, it was wonderful!! Red Rock State Park is beautiful, and has a lot of bike trails. We definitely won’t forget the stars at night sitting by the fire in this beautiful place.

If you haven’t been here, I suggest you make this your next adventure!!

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Love this time of the year when temperatures are on the 50s and you can feel spring is around the corner.

Birds singing makes my heart jump with joy, there’s nothing better than a walk to get reconnected with nature. All the noises of the world stops, peace and quite flows in my heart and I get in love with the Creator and his creativity.

Nature definitely feeds my soul.

What feeds your soul my friends?

He makes me brave

He makes me brave

God was taking care of me when I wasn’t.

Tomorrow will be 3 weeks since I had a hysterectomy.  My surgery went great without complications, I had a total hysterectomy, removing everything except one ovary which I need to keep me from going into early menopause.  The reason why the doctors and I decided to have this type of surgery was due to the many fibroids I had in my uterus (non-cancerous) and endometriosis.  They were giving me too many health problems to the point of becoming anemic and almost passing out.  During surgery a pathology test was done and doctors found no cancer which was a huge relieve for me and my family.  My recovery is going well and very slow, still with pain but better than the first week, it will take me about six weeks to be back to normal if only of course I follow exact orders from doctor.  I am beyond thankful for my family and friends, especially husband and mom who are taking care of me and making sure I do nothing around the house.

I had fibroids for 6 years which I knew about it and endometriosis for at least 10 years the doctors said. I didn’t know about it! until MRI showed how bad it was. No wonder every time I had my period I wished I never had it again. I really wished for menopause. I hated it so much for the pain and weakness I felt. I was too busy to go to the doctor. I didn’t have time for me! But you now what? God interrupted my life and said no more, so in July of this year my husband took me to ER, my hemoglobin was low to the point of almost passing out! I was loosing a lot of blood every time I had my period.  I was so scared I felt my body was going to fall and I had no control of it.

From then on doctors took care of me with such a special love that I will never forget how blessed I was.

God took me through this whole process holding my hand. I really felt his love and presence every step of the way. Through the prayers from my family, my church, and friends, in every blood work, ultra sound, MRI, doctor, nurse and even office staff, I felt His care and love.

If you are like me and feel there’s something not right, not normal in your body, don’t postpone it anymore or make excuses like me, please make time to see your doctor, take care of you! Our health is so important so we can take care of our family and others.  I learned so much from this. But one thing that I learned the most was to be GREATFUL.

Please keep me in your prayers as I recover from surgery. I can’t wait to be all better!!

It’s been a while since my last post, life keeps getting in my way with less time to write. But I’m back, with tons of things to talk about!

Let me share some of the things that were happening a few months ago. You know that one of the biggest job as parents is to make decisions for our children. Years ago we made the decision to home school our children. Why? because we enjoy the freedom it brings. We choose a curriculum that best fits our family, we travel to places pretty much whenever we want for as long as we want to and of course we can have a pajama day every day! ha! maybe not everyday.

We know each home school family is different and faces year by year decisions whether to keep homeschooling or not, through high school or not, Same for us we take it year by year praying to God to lead us in this journey of parenting and decision-making,  but as the kids get older we face new challenges.  High school is a point where we stop and think about whether we continue educating our children at home or not.  We reached that decision-making point with our oldest daughter this year. We can’t believe she is a young woman! High school seemed so far away, I kept telling others:  no I am not thinking that far ahead; but it’s here and let me tell you that yes! Last week she started attending a private christian school close to our house and we are exited about it!! No more home schooling for her, bitter-sweet, but we trust in the Lord she will be the light wherever she goes. She will face new challenges and we are ready for them. As for the rest of my kids, they will still be home school, we will be limited to travel whenever we want during the school year but we can still enjoy the curriculum we use and have pajama day.

I’m sure we all face decisions to make in the education of our children. Whether you home school or not, I will say to you trust in the Lord. Homeschooling is not meant to shelter your kids from the world, and sending them to school is not meant for you to let your guard down against the devil either, you need to be more involve with your children and pray for and with your kids. Yes home schooling give us the freedom and the convenience of being right there with them, to guide them in the world, taking real life opportunities to teach them, but we shouldn’t let our guard downs either.

I praise you either way brave parents! who take the challenge to homeschool or to take the challenge to send them to school. God sees both of you and he made the promise that you and your house will be saved.

Now, who says life is easy, this year has definitely been adventurous and fun!

How about you? Do you home school your children and take it one year at a time? or Do you know for sure you will homeschool your children through high school? or even college? Do they go to a school?

P.S. I will share something too, all the things I had to do to register her for school, oh my!! if you are not used to, like me, it can be overwhelming: School physical, up-to-date immunizations, school transcript (made by me since I was the school), letters of recommendations, placement test and an interview with the school.

Why this blog

Why this blog

Hi! Welcome to my blog, my name is Ursula Rodriguez and I’m a homeschool mama to 4 amazing and creative kids. I’m a blessed and grateful wife, and I am happy you are here visiting my blog.

Some time ago (about 6 years ago), I had the desire to start a blog and I almost did, I created an account with WordPress and that was it.  I got busier, had my 4th child, and was homeschooling my kids. Time passed, things changed and I forgot about it (fear had a little bit of blame too, which I will talk in future posts).  Recently I was talking with a friend of mine who creates websites for companies and after having a good conversation about what she does and our homeschool lives, I thought maybe I should start my blog.   So with a little bit of her knowledge and help I was able to customized my blog and now here I am, writing my second post!!

The reason I wanted start my blog 6 years ago and now are the same. I wanted a blog because I wanted to share my walk with Christ in everything I do, my walk as a mom and homemaker, the books I read and the books I read to my children, my homeschooling adventures, the love for creating things with my hands and to document my days as a stay at home mom. I want to humbly be an inspiration to women and be inspired by them too. My life is not perfect, my kids are not perfect, my house is not perfect, and it is not about sharing perfection because I am not perfect, I need God everyday of my life. My life is centered in Christ because He is perfect.

My dreams are many but my true passion is to share the love and grace of God through this blog. I hope you enjoy being here.

The Name Lana and Lino

The Name Lana and Lino

The name Lana and Lino comes from the book of Proverbs found in the Bible. Two words in Spanish that literally means Wool and Linen.

I wanted a name to represent my faith and what I do and use for my handmade business, and searching in the Bible I found exactly what I was looking for. Here is what it says:

Proverbs 31:10-31 The Wife Of Noble Character

10 A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
13 She selects WOOL AND FLAX  (Flax: The textile made from flax known as linen)
and works with eager hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.
15 She gets up while it is still night;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her female servants.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.
18 She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.
19 In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
20 She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.
21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
22 She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is respected at the city gate,
where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
31 Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
